Great to digitally meet you! My name is Julissa and i have been passionate about photography since the age of fourteen. I had a facebook album titled “I think im supposed to call this photography album something melodramatic,” which displayed my black and white photos of flowers and high contrast photos of family members that i would force to pose for my first nikon camera.

IN high school i quit sports, and math, to fill my schedule with every photography related class my public school had available. Studio photography, newspaper and film. It was here that i became infatuated with the look of black and white film and the works of Richard Avadon and Man Ray. My heart belongs to the look and feel of film to this day.

I have loved photography for a long time and i am grateful for the chance to still hold it close as a passion and career. I get to photograph couples and families during their most important occasions.

  • I primarily shoot digital photography for weddings and engagements. This allows for instant feedback, great detail and full creative control over the images captured.

    Gear: I photograph with 1-2 Canon DSLR bodies for large events and 1 camera body for smaller scale shoots. I carry two lenses and a digital flash for every shoot.

  • Film photography is my biggest love and is truly where my heart lies. I adore the intention of working with a limited number of images, the film grain and the extremely rewarding creative process.

    This process does come with a bit more risk, so I will only utilize film as a secondary/ complimentary option for large events. I will happily photograph smaller and more creative photoshoots entirely on film.

  • I hold degrees in Journalism and Marketing. After taking on photography with a creative mind, I honed in my skills by working with local newspapers and magazines. I pride myself in maintaining a documentary style photographic process and doing my best to capture every important moment as it unfolds, especially for large events.
